With the upcoming changes to the North American horizontal and vertical datums scheduled for 2022, anyone who collects, maintains, processes, analyzes, or shares geospatial data will need to be prepared. Developed by the NGS in cooperation with the Canadian Geodetic Survey, the North American Terrestrial Reference Frame of 2022 (NATRF2022) will replace both NAD 83 and NAVD 88 and will result in an update to the State Plane Coordinate System.
The consequence of is new reference framework is that all coordinates will change and legacy datasets will need to be updated. Geographic Calculator product managers and developers are already working on the necessary transformation parameters that will ensure that highest accuracy in the data conversion and transformation process.

The release of the Service Pack 1 (SP1) of Geographic Calculator 2019 sees the introduction of support for Open Document Spreadsheet (ODS) format, a new option to batch process Area Calculation jobs, and an update to the geodetic definitions from the EPSG version 9.6.3 database. Previous updates included a new Seismic Survey QC Job for checking the quality of preplot and poststack seismic lines between UKOOA and SEG-Y files, an updated, and more user-friendly interface, a universal copy and paste function, a new angular unit conversion tool, and support for NADCON 5.0.

Since 1993, Geographic Calculator has been the coordinate conversion tool of choice for GIS and survey professionals around the world. The software quickly grew in popularity over that first decade and has maintained its reputation as the best coordinate conversion solution on the market. Geographic Calculator has come a long way since then with many improvements over the years. In 2004, the underlying GeoCalc library was re-written and in 2007 a new version was released as the Blue Marble Desktop.
2013 saw a rebranding of the Blue Marble Desktop to Geographic Calculator. Blue Marble incorporated all of the functionality of the Desktop including the Geographic Transformer, Translator and Spatial Connect products into Geographic Calculator.
