TIGER/Line® 2004 Map Kit & Translator Now Available!

Gardiner, ME (June 17th, 2005)— Blue Marble Geographics (www.bluemarblegeo.com) is pleased to announce the release of TIGER/Line® 2004 Data package with updated TIGER® Translation software. This package contains important updates to the TIGER® data set, featuring realigned street feature coordinates for much of the country and a new record type providing spatial metadata for each feature in a TIGER/Line® file.

Blue Marble Geographics TIGER/Line® 2004 data set is in the U.S. Bureau of the Census TIGER/Line® 2004 format, and may be used with any GIS software that accepts or can convert this format. TIGER/Line® 2004 is the definitive, most recent GIS dataset for the United States. It includes all U.S. streets, street names and address ranges based on the USPS Delivery Sequence file, as well as Zip and Zip + 4 codes, latitude and longitude, the geographic relationship to other features, and other related information.

The 2004 First Edition TIGER/Line® files are the first version of the TIGER/Line® files to include counties or statistically equivalent entities containing realigned street feature coordinates that have progressed through the MAF/TIGER Accuracy Improvement Project. Counties with realigned street features include major parts of Texas, Michigan, Virginia, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, and Kentucky as well as lesser areas of California, Florida, Maryland, and many other states.

TIGER® was developed at the Census Bureau to support the mapping and related geographic activities required by the decennial census and sample survey programs. Blue Marble ships TIGER/Line® data with a choice of two map kits. TGR2SHP and TGR2MIF are Windows based applications for converting or batch processing of TIGER 97, 98, 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2004 files to ArcView Shapefiles and MapInfo MIF files respectively. The TIGER/Line®Map Kit grants the user easy and quick access to the data, automatically unzipping the TIGER® archives! Normal downloading of TIGER® data from the U.S. Census Bureau can take days! Blue Marble solves the download problem and supplies you with map kits saving you time and money.
