LogicaCMG chooses Blue Marble technology for Targeting Software!

GARDINER, ME – Blue Marble Geographics (www.bluemarblegeo.com) is pleased to announce recent licensing arrangements that provide use of their GeoCalc software development kit within ballistic targeting applications developed by LogicaCMG.

LogicaCMG chose Blue Marble’s GeoCalc SDK to provide a variety of comprehensive grid system support within highly accurate specialized military software applications. GeoCalc is used in FCA, a ballistic calculator that provides enhanced aiming capabilities by analyzing various terrain models. GeoCalc is also embedded in FC-BISA, a command system that coordinates effective battlefield resource deployment. Both applications require detailed coordinate system support, from UTM, BNG, MGRS, Lat/Lon to user-defined systems.

GeoCalc is the GIS industry standard for coordinate conversion and contains well over 130 pre-defined ellipsoids, 630 datum transformations and over 30 projections. Using GeoCalc in development will result in direct cost savings for your company. The hours needed research and development, testing, and Q/A maintenance alone can take months, but maintaining and updating your own coordinate conversion engine is an long and involved task. Blue Marble helps developers with this problem from the very fact that they have being updating their libraries for over ten years now.

Deployment of Blue Marble development software is not restricted with a software license control; you can embed these tools into your application for “on-the-fly” coordinate conversion, transparent to the user. The key features that led LogicaCMG to choose GeoCalc were simple.

“LogicaCMG needed a solution that had a strong pedigree and one that was well-known and established in the GIS world. Additionally, short timescales and a need for immediate availability meant the package we chose had to be extremely easy to implement. GeoCalc did not disappoint us, as it came out-of-the-box with all of the geodetic systems that LogicaCMG required,” stated Andy Walter, Principal Consultant, LogicaCMG.
