Blue Marble to Exhibit at ESRI Petroleum User Group Conference

Gardiner, Maine — February 17, 2009 – Blue Marble Geographics (bluemarblegeo.com) is pleased to announce they will be exhibiting at the ESRI Petroleum User Group Conference in Houston, TX February 23rd through February 25th. Come and visit booth 208 to learn why Blue Marble’s coordinate transformation technology is used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, oil and gas, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, enterprise GIS groups, universities, government and military organizations.

In the past year Blue Marble released the Blue Marble Desktop as a platform for delivery of its geospatial data conversion solutions. The Desktop helps manage geospatial data quality by providing a powerful all-in-one geodetic definition, coordinate transformation and raster/vector reprojection solution. The Blue Marble Desktop is driven by a common, comprehensive geodetic data source, GeoCalc.XML the largest commercially available coordinate transformation library. We’ve included many new administrative and workflow tools to assist users with streamlining their data transformation processes while ensuring accuracy and data quality. The new project manager allows GIS professionals to construct a variety of geospatial conversion workspaces and share them with other users, improving efficiency and reducing errors.

Additionally, the Geographic Calculator features of the Blue Marble Desktop showcase two extensions to ArcGIS that enhance and expand the geodetic manipulation tools of ArcGIS. Users can now work with the Geographic Calculator ESRI Extension in the Arc Tool Box or ArcMap. The new Arc Tool Box features read and write support for ESRI Personal and ArcSDE Databases.

The ArcGIS Extension also allows users to work with the Geographic Calculator directly in ArcGIS. Some of the main features of this extension include:

  • The ability to switch between geodetic definitions found in the Blue Marble GeoCalc XML data source and other existing geodetic definitions contained in ArcGIS
  • Define and generate a custom PRJ using the Blue Marble coordinate system dialogues
  • Compare data conversion results from ArcGIS projects in the Geographic Calculator
  • Convert a point layer in the Geographic Calculator and add it as a layer in ArcGIS

“We are excited to again be a part of the ESRI PUG conference this year,” stated Blue Marble President Patrick Cunningham. “Blue Marble is focused on providing software solutions that improve efficiency, reduce errors and thus increase return on investment. Working with our software and ArcGIS in one workflow will ensure the most accurate and reliable results every time.”
