Blue Marble to Demo Geographic Calculator at 1Spatial Conference 2008

Gardiner, Maine — April 18, 2008 – Blue Marble Geographics (www.bluemarblegeo.com) is pleased to announce their sponsorship of the 1Spatial Conference, being held in Stansted, UK from April 29th to May 1st, 2008. Come and visit Blue Marble in the exhibit hall to learn why their coordinate conversion technology is used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software companies, universities, oil and gas companies, civil engineering, surveying, technology, enterprise GIS groups, government and military organizations.

The 1Spatial conference will focus on the transformation, management and quality control of spatial data, making it the perfect forum in which to introduce the features of Geographic Calculator 7.0. The Geographic Calculator allows organizations and individuals to maintain and transform large datasets in many formats and local coordinate reference systems, guaranteeing the highest accuracy possible. With the introduction of the Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe (INSPIRE), the Geographic Calculator’s abilities become even clearer. With support for over twenty GIS and CAD file formats, over five thousand pre-defined coordinate reference systems, and transformations, interoperability has never been so easy, or so highly customizable.

Blue Marble will make their Geographic Calculator software available to 1Spatial attendees at the HP Usability Lab during the 1Spatial Conference. The Lab offers end users a chance to work with the Geographic Calculator in a relaxed, non-sales atmosphere. Attendees may choose to use sample scripts provided by Blue Marble, or to simply explore the product features on their own. Feedback from those who demo the Calculator will be shared with Blue Marble’s development team, and will help in driving testing and development. The HP Usability Lab is free to all delegates and will be open throughout the 1Spatial Conference 2008.

“The INSPIRE movement is a challenge for users of Geospatial data that we are sure we can help with, especially since it involves the definition and standardization of Coordinate reference systems and Geographical grid systems for Europe,” states Blue Marble President, Patrick Cunningham. “Blue Marble’s recent involvement with global organizations such as the OGC have allowed us to provide suggestions towards new and upcoming data standards, and this is a perfect opportunity to roll up our sleeves, and become directly involved with INSPIRE.”
