Blue Marble Software License Policy

Blue Marble Legacy Version and Authorization Policy

Blue Marble software offers a variety of license types: single-user node locked, single-user floating, USB dongle, network, and site license options, including our Enterprise License Agreement (ELA). Blue Marble will only activate the software license on new purchases within the same version or within one year of purchase. Customers with older purchases that require authorization to register and license the software may need to contact us directly. The re-authorization of software licenses under an ELA is dictated by the specific terms of that agreement. All other licenses are subject to the following policy:

Global Mapper (Perpetual)

The specific version of Global Mapper you license from Blue Marble may be used indefinitely as the license file delivered is perpetual. Once the license file is activated on a machine, there may be restrictions on the frequency with which users may move the license to additional machines. This is dependent on the type of license that is purchased.

After an initial license purchase or renewal of Maintenance & Support, users are entitled to download and license all updates to the software released within that period.  When the twelve-month period is over, users have the option to purchase Maintenance & Support, allowing them to retain their initial level of access and support. Please contact our sales team (orders@bluemarblegeo.com) for more information on the latest renewal rates.

Maintenance and Support (M&S)

The purchase of Global Mapper comes with one year of Maintenance and Support service (M&S), which begins on the date of payment of the original purchase. M&S includes access to all version releases to the software within the contracted 12-month period and technical support. Current M&S access allows users to maintain the most current version of Global Mapper. As a user approaches the end of their twelve-month M&S contract period, they will be contacted via email, with the option to renew the agreement. If M&S is not renewed but is purchased at a later date, the agreement will be retroactive to the original renewal date, beginning one year after the original purchase. Enrollment in M&S is not intended as a substitute for formal training on the use of the software. Learn more about our training classes, including how to become a certified Global Mapper user

Single User (Node-Locked) License

Users with single user (node-locked) licenses are permitted to re-authorize their license to a different machine up to two times per 365 days.

Users of Global Mapper software v13.X or older will not be able to activate their licenses, as we no longer support these legacy versions.

Users with a single user license that is version 14 to 22 can deauthorize and reauthorize the license directly using the license manager without having to contact Blue Marble.

Please Note: Installation files for legacy versions are not available for distribution.

Additional reauthorizations exceeding the allotted two per 365 days require the user to contact authorize@bluemarblegeo.com. If your M&S agreement is not current, our team may not be able to assist you with this process.

Single user (node-locked) licenses are not meant to be moved from machine to machine. If you need to move your license frequently, Blue Marble offers USB dongle, single user floating, or network licenses for that purpose.

Network License

Network licenses are a flexible solution for license management. With this license type, a pool of license seats is hosted on a server, and client machines with communication to the server can check out a license to use while the end-user program is active. Network licenses require manual setup on the license server machine. For assistance, please contact authorize@bluemarblegeo.com regarding activating or moving a license. If your M&S agreement is not current, our team may not be able to assist you with this process.

Single User Floating License

A Single User Floating License is a portable license that may be moved to license the software on any workstation. It may not be used concurrently or simultaneously between two workstations. The end-user must remove and release the license file via the license manager interface in the software before authorizing a new workstation (PC).

MangoMap

Blue Marble Geographics is an official reseller of MangoMap. Licenses are purchased as year-long subscriptions, with the option to renew at the end of the term. Licenses are issued through the internet and are not machine limited. Global Mapper v21or later is required to publish map data to MangoMap.

Subscriptions that are purchased through Blue Marble Geographics will allow users to access Global Mapper’s MangoMap extension. Customers who purchase a license through MangoMap will not have access to the Global Mapper extension.

Questions about purchasing should be directed to orders@bluemarblegeo.com, technical questions should be directed to geohelp@bluemarblegeo.com.

Global Mapper Mobile Pro

Licenses for Global Mapper Mobile Pro are purchased as year-long subscriptions. Each license includes access to all software updates and technical support while the subscription is valid. Licenses can only be active on one device at a time and must be deauthorized on one device before being activated on another. This deauthorization process is initiated in the Pro Module Registration section of the application’s Configuration menu. Global Mapper Mobile Pro licenses can be renewed at the end of the subscription period. Please contact the Blue Marble Sales Team (orders@bluemarblegeo.com) with any questions.

Geographic Calculator (Term)

A Geographic Calculator term license is valid for one year, with the term beginning on the date of purchase. Once the license file has been activated on the user’s machine, it is important to note that the number of times a license can be moved within the contractual period is limited to two. For the duration of the license term, all software updates (including major software version releases) are provided, and users may receive technical support. The subscription may be renewed at the end of the term, and renewal invoices will automatically be sent to your organization one month prior to your annual renewal date. Please contact our sales team at orders@bluemarblegeo.com for any information on the latest renewal rates.

Geographic Calculator (Perpetual)

A Geographic Calculator perpetual license file may be used indefinitely, as it has no expiration date. Once the license file has been activated on the user’s machine, it is important to note that the number of times a license can be moved in a year is limited to two. Every purchase or subscription renewal includes a year of M&S agreement, which includes access to technical support and any release within that twelve-month term. After one year has passed since the last purchase, upgrade, or renewal of maintenance and support, the license may be upgraded by renewing the M&S agreement. Please contact our sales team at orders@bluemarblegeo.com for more information on the latest upgrade rates.

Maintenance and Support (M&S)

M&S includes all version releases to the software for one year after the purchase and includes technical and licensing support. This will allow you to upgrade your purchased license to the current version of Geographic Calculator. If M&S is not renewed and is allowed to lapse but is purchased at a later date, M&S will be retroactive to the original renewal date.

Single User (Node-Locked) License

Users with single user (node-locked) licenses are permitted to re-authorize their license to a different machine up to two times per 365 days.

Please Note: Installation files for legacy versions are not available for distribution. Versions prior to Geographic Calculator 2019, are not available for download.

Additional reauthorizations exceeding the allotted two per 365-days require the user to contact authorize@bluemarblegeo.com. If your M&S agreement is not current, our team may not be able to assist you with this process. Please be sure that a removal code (using the license removal tool found in the license manager) can be generated to verify a license has actually been deauthorized. This is required for all license moves.

Single user (node-locked) licenses are not meant to be moved from machine to machine. If you need to move your license frequently, Blue Marble offers USB dongle, single user floating, or network licenses for that purpose.
