Objective: Use the Batch Point Database conversion tab to set up a PDC file for a point database file.
Data: SegP1 database with packed DMS
The Geographic Calculator is capable of converting coordinates in multiple point database lists in one operation. This requires creating a PDC file for each file that needs to be converted.
Follow these steps to set up a PDC file:
Open the Geographic Calculator and click the Batch Point Database Conversions tab.
Open the dialog for creating PDC files by going to the Point Database Conversion File List area and clicking on the Multiple... control button.
You should now see the following dialog.

Add the Point Database File for your PDC file by going to the Files To Convert area and clicking on the Add... control button.
In the open file dialog that appears browse to the directory where the Getting Started Guide installed its data and select Sample.seg. (You may have to set the filter to All Files (*.*) or Text files (*.seg) to see Sample.seg)
Select the Template File (a PDC or PDS file) for your PDC file by clicking on the Template ... control button.
In the open file dialog that appears browse to the directory where the Getting Started Guide installed its data and select segbatch.pds.
Select a Destination Folder for your output Point Database File by clicking on the Destination Folder ... control button.
In the folder browser dialog that appears browse to the directory where you want your output Point Database File to be saved and select it.
Select the Point Database File format by going to the Destination File Format area and clicking on the Save As Source File radio button.
Select a name modifier by going to the Destination File Name Modifier area and clicking on the Prefix radio button and typing out_ in the text box.
Your Multiple Point Database Conversion File Generation dialog should now look something like this.

Create the PDC file and add it to your Point Database Conversion File List by clicking the Generate control button.
Once the PDC file(s) have been created you should be told how many were successfully created and your Geographic Calculator should look like this.
