Software License Policy

Blue Marble Geographics offers a variety of license types to suit different needs, including:

• Single-user licenses: Available as node-locked or floating options.
• USB dongle licenses
• Network licenses
• Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) options

License-Specific Details:

• Single-user Node-locked: Licenses are locked to one machine ID. Deactivation is required before moving to a new machine, and M&S must be current. Node-locked licenses with active M&S can be re-authorized up to two times per 365 days. Additional re-authorizations require contacting authorize@bluemarblegeo.com.
• Single-user Floating: Licenses provide the flexibility for one user to move the software between multiple computers or access the license remotely through RDP. Licenses are locked to one machine ID at a time, and need to be current in M&S, along with deactivated/released prior to authorizing a new workstation.
• USB Dongle: Licenses are physically shipped on a USB key with a second dongle with the version-specific installation file; no internet connection required for activation. A user can move their dongle between workstations an unlimited number of times; however can only be used on one local machine at a time, and cannot be accessed remotely. Blue Marble Geographics is not liable for loss or damage to the dongle.
• Network Licenses: A pool of license seats is hosted on a server, allowing client machines to check out licenses. Manual setup required on a server machine, separate from a machine running the software. Users must be current in M&S to move the network license to a new server or receive activation assistance.
• Global Mapper Mobile Pro: Licenses are year-long subscriptions for iOS/Android devices. Licenses are active on one device at a time. Before moving, the license must be deactivated.

Please note that newly purchased software licenses will activate the currently supported software version. For Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) re-authorization, the terms are dictated by your specific agreement.

Software-Specific Options:

• Global Mapper
  • Perpetual License: License does not expire and can be used indefinitely on the original machine ID of activation. Perpetual licenses are available in Node-locked, USB Dongle, or Network license types.
  • Movement of licenses to additional machine IDs is restricted based on license type and current Maintenance & Support (M&S).
• Global Mapper Pro
  • Global Mapper Pro is an add-on to the software that requires a current Global Mapper license of the same type and version.
• Geographic Calculator
  • Term License: The license is valid for one year and includes updates and technical support for the term. Subscription licenses are available in Node-Locked, Floating, USB Dongle, or Network license types.
  • Perpetual License: License does not expire and can be used indefinitely on the original machine ID of activation. Perpetual licenses are available in Node-locked, USB Dongle, or Network license types.

Maintenance and Support (M&S):

• New purchases of Global Mapper and Geographic Calculator include one year of M&S, providing access to updates and technical/licensing support.
• M&S can be renewed; if not renewed and purchased later, it is retroactive to the original renewal date.
• If you wish to move your license or receive technical and licensing support, M&S must be current.
• Enrollment in M&S is not a substitute for formal training. For more information on training opportunities, please visit the Training page on our website.

General Policies:

• Users should back up their installation files upon purchase, as legacy versions are not available for distribution. Installation files for legacy versions are not available for distribution.
• Windows updates and motherboard replacements can change the Machine ID; deactivate the license before these changes. If M&S has expired, Blue Marble’s team cannot assist with license re-authorization or recovery.
