Status Bar

The status bar is displayed at the bottom of the Global Mapper window. To display or hide the status bar, use the Status Bar command in the View menu.

The left area of the status bar describes actions of menu items and toolbar icons. The left area of the status bar will also show color or elevation of the current pixel if the mouse cursor is over a raster, or else the description of the closest vector feature. If the nearest line feature to the cursor contains recognized addressing information, the address nearest the cursor will be displayed.

The right area of the status bar indicates the current view scale and the current mouse position. First, the mouse position is stated in the current workspace Coordinate Reference System, which is also listed. If a vertical coordinate reference system is specified, the current vertical coordinate system is shown as well. Then, the mouse position is stated in Latitude and Longitude, in the Position Display Format selected from the Measure/Units section of the Configuration dialog.

When a vertical coordinate system transformation is in effect, the status bar text that reports the elevation at the cursor location shows the elevation in both the layer’s native vertical and the current global vertical, if they are different.

Unit abbreviations are displayed in the current projection for the XY coordinates if there is no Z coordinate, or for XY and Z if the elevation coordinate unit is different. Projections that use Arc Degrees for units display as unit-less.
