Feature Notation

Feature Notations are a special attribute type that is designed for extended notes about a vector feature. This special attribute can be opened in a text editor view and supports special characters such as line breaks, tabs, and quotation marks. Feature notations make is easier to add and view attributes that contain sentences or paragraphs of information.

Feature Notations can be used in Global Mapper desktop application, but were designed especially for use in the Global Mapper Mobile application, where Notation attributes display with a larger box for entering text. Feature Notations are included in export to Global Mapper Mobile Package format.

Use the Add/Modify Notation Button on the Modify Feature Info Dialog to add a feature notation. Feature notations can also be opened from the Feature Info tool. In the Search Dialog, they will appear as a continuous text field without displaying the line breaks.
