Quick Start
Use this Quick Start section if you want to run quickly through some simple conversions and transformations to do a quick evaluation of the Geographic Calculator.
Point to Point Conversion
Interactive Conversion jobs are used to convert a point from one coordinate system to another. When the application is first opened, there should be a default interactive conversion set up.
Use one of these methods create a new interactive conversion:
- Select File > Jobs > Interactive Conversion
- Click the new Interactive Conversion button from the toolbar
- Use the Start Page to create a new Interactive Conversion Job
Use the Coordinate Point Definition
boxes on the left side of the screen to enter in your starting point.
You may create a name for this point here as well. Double
-click in the Source Coordinate System box to select a coordinate system. Double-click in
the Datum and Units boxes to alter the standard definition, if desired.
The Format button will allow you to select precision and coordinate formats.
Double-click the Target Coordinate System boxes on the right side to define your destination system.
Next, double-click the Coordinate Transformation box to choose an appropriate datum transformation method. Finally, use the Calculate button at the bottom of the screen to compute your conversion.
