The start screen of Global Mapper provides several Quick Start Buttons to easily load data or configure the application. The start screen appears when the application is first opened, or when all data is unloaded.

The display of the Quick Start buttons can be toggled on or off. To do so, right click nearby them on the start screen, and choose "Hide Quick Start Buttons." To restore them, simply right click again and choose "Show Quick Start Buttons."

Connect to Online Data

Configure

Load Default Data

Selecting Load Default Data loads a basic vector map of world countries,1 This world countries data comes from Natural Earth and is designed for cartographic use. It does not contain authoritative boundaries. consisting of area features and labels. This can be a good starting dataset or world reference for a novice GIS user.
