Control Center

This button is analogous to the Control Center button found in Global Mapper desktop. Tap to display a dialog listing the various data layers currently loaded. Drag your finger to scroll the layers if needed.

Move the Control Center dialog by touching the title bar and dragging. With the Control Center open, the map can be zoomed and panned using the touch screen gestures. To close the Control Center, tap the text Close button at the bottom of the dialog, tap the Control Center icon again, use a single tap on the map outside of the dialog.

The icon next to each layer indicates the type of data:

Vector
Raster Imagery
Elevation Grid

Full Extent

The Home button on the top right corner of the Control Center zooms the map to the full extent of the loaded data.

Show/Hide Layer

Quickly hide or show a layer by tapping the layer description in the Control Center layer list. Hidden layers are indicated with a lighter color text and icon. Hidden layers are not unloaded from the map and will remain in the Control Center layer list.

Layer Options

Tap the that appears after a layer name to bring up a list of Layer Options. Options included in the list are:

Zoom - Zooms to the currently selected layer

Move/Reorder Layer - A series of options move the selected layer up and down in the layer drawing order. Layers at the top of the Control Center list are drawn on the bottom in the map view. Move To Top, Move Up, Move to Bottom, Move Down

Hide - Hides the layer from view. It will not be unloaded from the map.

Remove - Removes the layer from the map.

Metadata - Displays the layer metadata including the layer name, extents, and projection.

Description - Allows the layer description to be edited. This is the text displayed for the layer in the Control Center.

Vector Options

Allow Feature Selection - Enabled by default, this option allows vector features in the layer to be selected for attribute viewing or editing.

Assign Index Attributes - Assigns a sequential numeric index value to all features in a layer.

Renumber Index Attributes - Reassigns sequential numeric index value to all features in a layer. Useful when features have been added to or deleted from a layer.

Raster Image/Elevation Options

Translucency - Set the translucency as a percent from zero (transparent) to 100 (opaque).

Resampling Method - Select the resampling method used to display the color/elevation for each location based on the values in the file.

Nearest Neighbor - simply uses the value of the sample/pixel that a sample location is in. When resampling an image this can result in a stair-step effect, but will maintain exactly the original color values of the source image.

Bilinear Interpolation - determines the value of a new pixel based on a weighted average of the 4 pixels in the nearest 2 x 2 neighborhood of the pixel in the original image. The averaging has an anti-aliasing effect and therefore produces relatively smooth edges with less stair-step effect.

Bicubic Interpolation - a more sophisticated method that produces smoother edges than bilinear interpolation. Here, a new pixel is a bicubic function using 16 pixels in the nearest 4 x 4 neighborhood of the pixel in the original image. This is the method most commonly used by image editing software, printer drivers, and many digital cameras for resampling images.

Note: Elevation shader and hillshading are controlled for all layers in the App Configuration Shader options.
