Save Workspace and Save Workspace As

The Save Workspace command allows the user to save the currently loaded data and display settings to a Global Mapper workspace file (*gmw). A saved workspace can be opened later to continue work on a project with the Open Data Files or Load Workspace commands.

Global Mapper workspace files maintain a list of all of the loaded layers, along with some information about the data. When a saved workspace is opened all of the layers saved in the file will open in Global Mapper, allowing users to easily load data.

Note: Workspace files (*gmw) are not designed to be sent to other users on separate machines. While a workspace file saves created data, along with any modifications and display settings, connections to externally saved local files must be maintained for the workspace to open as without error and load the expected data layers. To share data with other Global Mapper users, consider exporting to a Global Mapper Package file (*gmp).

The Global Mapper workspace will also contain any changes that you have made to loaded vector features as well as any new vector features that you have created. The user projection and last view on the data will also be maintained.

The Save Workspace command can be used with Ctrl+S on your keyboard.
The Save Workspace As command can be used with Ctrl+Shift+S on your keyboard, or found in the File Menu.
