Pan (Grab-and-Drag) Tool

The Pan (Grab-and-Drag) Tool allows you to move the center point of the map display without changing the magnification. Selecting the Pan Tool makes it the active tool. When the Pan Tool is active the cursor will change to an open hand icon on the map and the toolbar button will remain highlighted.

Enable the Pan Tool from the Tools Menu, with the Pan button from the Navigation toolbar, or with the Alt+G keyboard shortcut.

To change the center point of the map without changing the magnification, click the left mouse button to grab the data, drag the view to the desired location, then release the left mouse button to redraw the view at the new location.

If you just want to recenter on a new location without dragging, click the left mouse button at the new desired location and the view will be recentered on that location (this provides the functionality of the old Recenter Tool).
