Oblique Equal Area Cylindrical
The Oblique Equal Area Cylindrical projection represents an orthographic projection of an ellipsoid onto a cylinder. It is similar to the Equal Area Cylindrical projection, except that the cylinder is wrapped around the ellipsoid so that it touches the surface along the great circle path chosen for the central line. Two meridians 180 degrees apart are straight lines. Other meridians and parallels are complex curves. For the spherical case, scale is true along the chosen central line, an oblique great circle, or along two straight lines parallel to the central line.
