Quick Start Raster Transform
Use this Quick Start section if you want to quickly run through some simple image processing jobs.
Raster Image Transformation:
- To transform a single raster image to a new coordinate system, you will need to use the Calculator's Raster Transform job. When you start a new instance of the Geographic Calculator, you will be presented with several predefined jobs in the Project Manager pane and job description and creation options in the Start Page.
- To create a new raster image transformation, select File>Jobs>Raster Transform from the application file menu, select the Raster Transform.
- To load an image file, click the Browse(…) button next to the Image File field at the top of the transform page. Once you have selected your input image, you will see the full file path to the left of the Browse(…) button, and a preview of the image to the right. If your image is internally georeferenced, you will also see the same file path as the input image in the Reference File box.Otherwise, you will also need to load a reference file before you can transform.
- Once the image and reference file are loaded, you will need to setup your input and output coordinate systems. If your image reference file also contains a coordinate system definition, you may only need to select an output coordinate system. Use the Conversion Settings to select your coordinate system of origin. Double-click in the System, Datum, and Units boxes to alter the standard definition, if desired.
- Click in the Coordinate System boxes on the
right side to define your destination system.
- Next, click the Coordinate Transformation box to choose an appropriate datum transformation method.
- Once your image and reference file, coordinate systems, and datum transformations have been specified, you will need to select a location and format for your output image. This is set in the Output Settings at the bottom of the transform tab.
- Finally, specify the type of output reference file you would like to be associated with your transformed image by clicking the Preferences tab in the bottom right corner of the tab. Click the Process button to complete the transformation of your image.
There are several other parameters that you can modify when doing a transformation. For more information on these parameters, please see Setting up a Transformation.
Batch Raster Transformation:
Once you have defined a transform job, you can quickly use the same settings to generate a batch transformation for a large set of homogeneous data. Begin by setting up a full transformation for one of the images.
Right- click on this transformation job in the Project Manager pane, and select the Batch Add option.
You will see a dialog with the title Generate Raster Transforms. Click on the Select Images button to choose the images you wish to process in the batch. Once all the images are in the list, select a destination folder for the transformed image data. Click the Generate button, and the dialog will close. A new job will be created for each of the images from the list and added to the new batch job. Right-click on the Batch in the Project Manager and select Process to run all of the transforms.
