Geoid Models

The Geographic Calculator supports a number of regional geoid models.  These models are based on data tables containing differences between the ellipsoid and the geoid model for a given area.  Please be aware that these models are not exact Mean Sea Level values, but are approximations of Mean Sea Level.

Each vertical model supported requires a distinct set of data tables which are freely available from our website:http://www.bluemarblegeo.com/products/geographic-calculator-download.php.

Supported vertical transformation types are available for:

  • US Geoid Model of 1996
  • US Geoid Model of 1999
  • US Geoid Model of 2003
  • US Geoid Model of 2006 (Alaska)
  • US Geoid Model of 2009
  • US Geoid Model of 2012 A
  • Canadian Geodetic Vertical Datum 2013
  • Australian Geoid Model of 1998
  • Ordnance Survey Geoid Model of 2002
  • Earth Geopotential Model of 1996
  • Colombia Geoid Model of 2004
  • Japanese GSI Geoid Model of 2000
  • Venezuelan Geoid Model of 2004
  • Iberian Gravimetric Geoid of 2005
  • Iberian Geoid Model of 1995
  • Earth Geopotential Model of 2008
  • Netherlands Geoid Model of 2004
  • Ohio State University Geoid Model of 1991
  • Trimble Geoid Grid
  • VDatum Tidal
  • Custom Geoids

All transformations show the default type of interpolation used for that method on the definition for that geoid. Newly created geoids will start with the default method selected.
