A Global Mapper script is a workflow optimization tool that is used to initiate data processing tasks by employing many of the same tools that are typically accessed from within the interface of the desktop software. A script is a text-formatted file consisting of one or more written commands followed by the parameters that are required by each command.

Scripting is often employed when performing repeated or recurring tasks and it can be used to run a series of procedures including importing, processing, and exporting data.

In this hands-on workshop, we will begin by exploring the basic structure of a script file and we will work with some preformatted examples of scripts that perform some basic operations both within the context of the software interface as well as an external process. We will then build some more complex scripts from scratch using some sample data files provided.

Workshop attendees must have an understanding of the capabilities and operation of Global Mapper.
