COLLADA model files are commonly used by software like Google Earth to represent 3D models (these are typically model.dae files). Global Mapper v11.02 and later can directly load some of these files, but to load the textures and get a much better image you need Global Mapper v16.0 or later. Globl Mapper v16.2 and later can export new DAE files.
OBJ (or .OBJ) is a geometry definition file format first developed by Wavefront Technologies for its Advanced Visualizer animation package. The file format is open and has been adopted by other 3D graphics application vendors. For the most part it is a universally accepted format. The OBJ file format is a simple data-format that represents 3D geometry alone — namely, the position of each vertex, the UV position of each texture coordinate vertex, vertex normals, and the faces that make each polygon defined as a list of vertices, and texture vertices. Vertices are stored in a counter-clockwise order by default, making explicit declaration of face normals unnecessary. OBJ coordinates have no units, but OBJ files can contain scale information in a human readable comment line. Global Mapper v16.0 and later can read these files. Globl Mapper v16.2 and later can export new OBJ files.

STL is a file format native to the stereolithography CAD software created by 3D Systems. This file format is supported by many other software packages; it is widely used for rapid prototyping and computer-aided manufacturing. STL files describe only the surface geometry of a three dimensional object without any representation of color, texture or other common CAD model attributes. All versions of Global Mapper can export loaded terrain grids to STL format files. Global Mapper v14.0 and later can export binary STL format files. Global Mapper v16.0 and later can import STL files. Globl Mapper v16.2 and later can export 3D models to STL files.
The Sketchup .skp format is a 3D model format used by the SketchUp 3D model creating/editing application. While earlier versions of Global Mapper had some very limited support for loading .skp models, Global Mapper v16.2 has much better support for 3D models from all versions of SKP files.
