Introduction
This guide
provides a direct, project oriented approach to learning the capabilities
of the Geographic Transformer. It is intended to guide the user step-by-step
through some of the basic operations of the Geographic Transformer. It
also provides "hands on" experience with real data. This lab
manual is ideal for new users who would like to gain some experience with
the application and for experienced users who would like to sharpen their
skills.
The data you
need to complete these exercises must be downloaded from the Blue Marble
Geographics web site (http://www.bluemarblegeo.com/)
and is separate from the installation of the "Getting Started"
guide. Additional
instructions are available in the Readme.doc that accompanies
this help file.
If you are installing from a Blue Marble Geographics
Showcase CD, please read the readme file for instructions to install the
sample images for the tutorials.
The image maps utilized in the labs are intended to represent a diverse
range of applications. It is likely that the sample data will be similar
to the data that you will be using in your own projects.
The five labs
presented in this manual range from basic procedures, such as point registration,
to more advanced procedures, such as defining datum and coordinate systems.
The labs are illustrated with diagrams and screen shots from the Geographic
Transformer.
