Receiving Live or Simulated GPS Data

The Geographic Tracker can process live or simulated GPS message data*. Simply select "Live GPS Data" or "Simulated GPS Data..." from within the "File" menu to specify the source of the GPS messages. Of course, you must have a GPS receiver attached to your computer and the receiver must be actually sending messages for the "Live GPS Data" option to be used. You can select "Off" (the default startup mode) to turn off the connection to the GPS receiver.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The latitude and longitude position displayed within the GPS information view is referenced to the geodetic datum set within your GPS receiver. You should always be aware which geodetic datum you are working with and the requirement to convert coordinates between geodetic datums if necessary.

* Recording/Replaying GPS Data is not supported when using the Garmin Device Interface Protocol.
