The File Corral provides a way to manage data files for use in the Blue Marble Desktop. It provides a centralized location from which files can be referenced, organized, and described, regardless of their location. The data files managed by the File Corral may exist on the local machine, or they may exist on another computer accessible over a network.
The File Corral is a list of data files you might commonly use or files you are using for a particular project. A File Corral is associated with a particular workspace, so when the workspace is exported, the File Corral will go with it. Any type of data file you can work with in the Desktop can be added to the File Corral. Once a file has been added to the corral it can be dragged to any applicable part of the Desktop. Additionally, if files have been added from a remote network directory, the files can be quickly copied locally. In this lab, we will get familiar with the features of the File Corral.
