Virtually Unlimited Mosaicking Capabilities Now in the New Geographic Transformer 5.1 Release from Blue Marble!

Gardiner, Maine - Blue Marble Geographics (www.bluemarblegeo.com) announces the release of Geographic Transformer 5.1. The Geographic Transformer allows users to easily establish an "image-to-world" relationship between image and map coordinates and reproject an image into a georeferenced image map. The Transformer is perfect for handling a variety of image data sources including scanned paper maps, aerial photos, and satellite imagery and is used worldwide by thousands of basic to advanced GIS analysts at universities, oil and gas companies, civil engineering, surveying, technology, enterprise GIS groups, and military organizations.

This new version introduces greatly expanded image mosaicking capabilities. Prior versions only allowed for stitching together a maximum of four images, but 5.1 allows up to 128 images to be mosaicked into one raster. This feature is strengthened with enhanced read and write of one of the most important large file image formats available today, JPEG 2000. The Geographic Transformer is the product for GIS analysts that need to work with large file imagery, but are on a limited budget. It will read in MrSID files unlimited by size and allow for unlimited write size for ECW and JPEG 2000.

"We are thrilled to make this release available. Our existing customers and interested prospects alike have been asking for the ability to mosaic more than four images, and now it is here," states Blue Marble President Patrick Cunningham. "Whether an advanced or beginner analyst, working with large file imagery is a requirement for GIS today and the Geographic Transformer is the perfect tool for breaking these images down to a manageable size and mosaicking them into a finished product."

Other additions to the product include further enhanced batch file format support to accept internally referenced files, reading and writing of ERS reference files, and many other features including all of the latest coordinate system, projection, and datum additions recently announced in our GeoCalc 5.3 and Geographic Calculator 6.1 releases www.bluemarblegeo.com/press
