Blue Marble's GeoView Embedded In SmallWorld GIS

Blue Marble Geographics has licensed its core technology component for mapping and spatial database handling, GeoView, to Smallworld - one of the world's fastest growing vendors of client/server software for the spatial design, engineering and management of complex physical networks.

Smallworld GIS 2.2 includes the Spatial Object Controller, an extension to the core product architecture that offers a radically new approach to the integration of business applications using the strengths of object orientation. For example, an existing landbase held in CAD files such as Microstation, or demographic data held in Oracle's Spatial Data Option or INFORMIX-Universal Server will be successfully integrated using this technology. The Spatial Object Controller offers users choice and flexibility in the way their solutions are implemented and their existing data is handled.

GeoView is now being used by nearly 100 GIS and CAD software development companies for rapid display and query of map data in virtually any format or any co-ordinate system, datum or projection. It's lean footprint and availability in both 16 and 32 bit DLL or OCX architecture make it a popular choice for those developers who want to embed mapping as part of their applications.

Smallworld - accessible on the Internet at http://www.smallworld-us.com - has over 400 customers in 20 countries around the world; its headquarters is located in Cambridge, England. A publicly-held company, Smallworldwide plc trades on the NASDAQ national market under the symbol SWLDY.
